There’s only one teacher at Bondurant Elementary School, but Dr. Karin Unruh is everything Sublette County School District No. 1 and its students could want from an educator in rural Wyoming. She was recently recognized for her commitment to her students by the SCSD1 Board of Trustees and the state. Dr. Unruh was formally recognized by SCSD1 as the district’s Teacher of the Year during the October board meeting in Bondurant. “Karin (Unruh) is the embodiment of excellence in education,” said SCSD1 Superintendent Shannon Harris. “Her ability to engage and inspire students across multiple grades in a rural setting is nothing short of remarkable. We are incredibly proud to honor her as our Teacher of the Year.”
Unruh fosters an environment in which students of all ages can thrive as she instructs multiple grade levels simultaneously within her Bondurant classroom. Her students consistently achieve high academic performance, reflecting her mastery of differentiated instruction, creativity, and commitment to student success.
Unruh was also honored at the 2026 Wyoming Teacher of the Year banquet held in Casper on Sunday, Oct. 12. “Dr. Unruh’s recognition at both the district and state levels celebrates her unwavering dedication to her students, her innovative teaching practices, and her passion for education in rural communities,” Harris said.
